VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Removal System
The control and disposal of VOC components are carried out using reactive chemical scrubbing solutions (VOC Sorbent Solution) formulated by FORECO Engineering. In this way, all VOC components are neutralized through reaction. The process sequence for the relevant facility is outlined below:
The VOC-laden air flow from the washing unit stacks is consolidated into a single channel and transported to the VOC Removal System.
- Chemical vapors transported upward through packed columns react with counter-flowing sprayed chemical solutions over the packing material, ensuring reactions occur at every point of the packed column.
- As a result of these reactions, the chemical vapors are reduced to harmless components, and the gaseous components are controlled through reactions with relevant reactants in the same solution.
- Chemical vapors that cannot react, condense, dissolve in the solution, or are stripped from the recirculated (sprayed) chemical solution are transported from the scrubber system to filter cabinets. Here, they are controlled through both physical adsorption by the filter materials and reactions with reactive filter materials.
- To prevent exothermic reactions caused by the cleaned air in the filter materials, the partially contaminated air is diluted with atmospheric fresh air through a dilution stack before being introduced into the filter units.
- Thus, the chemical vapor-laden polluted air passing through the VOC Removal System is purified and released into the atmosphere as clean air.
